About the Role
As a Senior Personal Advisor within the Young People Service at Croydon Council, you will fulfil the statutory role outlined in the Children Act 1989, working with young people aged 16 to 25 who have been looked after by the council. You will hold a caseload, advising, assisting, and supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes as set out in their Pathway Plans. Your role will ensure the council maintains contact with these young people and supports their transition to independence and adulthood. This includes partnership working to reduce risks and vulnerabilities, including those related to unsettled immigration status. Additionally, you will provide support, advice, and guidance to Personal Advisors managing their caseloads.

Requirements

Experience
- Experience working in a similar role within statutory or non-statutory settings.
- Considerable experience coordinating work with individuals in a case-holding or key working capacity.
- Experience helping young people achieve positive outcomes through relationship-based work and implementing plans.
- Knowledge of effective safeguarding and risk management practices related to vulnerable adults and children.
- Experience managing complex and potentially conflictual situations using restorative and solution-focused approaches.
- Ability to engage and develop effective relationships with professionals and organisations to support joint working.

About You
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, research, practice models, and policy developments.
- Ability to identify, assess, and determine individual plans focusing on strengths, safeguarding, and risk management.
- Understanding of human development theory, particularly adolescent development and issues faced by looked after children and care leavers.
- Knowledge of different methods of providing effective support, preferably within social care.
- Ability to develop and deliver targeted interventions promoting independence and reducing vulnerability.
- Confident in using ICT, including client recording systems, Excel, Outlook, and Word, with the ability and confidence to learn new systems.
- Good basic standards of literacy and numeracy.
