About the Role
The Senior Medical Receptionist provides a high-quality, professional, and compassionate front-of-house service to patients and visitors. Supporting the Reception Supervisor, this role acts as a point of escalation for complex patient queries, mentors junior staff, and ensures smooth daily administration across both practice sites. Key responsibilities include resolving complex patient queries calmly and professionally, coordinating appointment systems to optimize clinic utilization, managing urgent requests with the duty doctor, and acting as a main contact for external healthcare professionals, social services, and ambulance crews. The role also involves assisting in training and mentoring new receptionists, supporting staff rota management, maintaining data integrity within clinical systems (EMIS Web), processing repeat prescriptions, managing digital queues and online consultations, and ensuring the reception and waiting areas are welcoming, safe, and secure by opening and closing surgery sites according to practice procedures.

Experience
Experience in a medical reception or similar front-of-house role is essential, with the ability to handle complex and sensitive patient queries professionally.
