About the Role
It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry (HMLR) as we continue on a major transformation programme. HMLR's ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data. We are recruiting for 5 Senior Test Engineers to join our Transformation and Technology team to help us achieve this.
HM Land Registry's existing software systems and services form part of the critical national infrastructure, safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £8 trillion. This enables over £1 trillion worth of personal and commercial lending to be secured against property across England and Wales.
You will work across projects and alongside test managers assisting new teams to start technical frameworks, documenting new approaches and processes, and helping resolve technical impediments. Working closely with the Lead Test Engineer, you will innovate, predict and resolve technical issues before they occur to help smooth advancement.
Main duties include:
- Advocating best practice through practical examples and guidance
- Performing in-depth reviews reporting quality improvements and successes
- Updating and enhancing technical practice and quality frameworks
- Assisting teams with technical startup and overcoming impediments
- Teaching, mentoring and being a role model for quality test implementation
- Performing technical and business analysis to underpin technical solutions
- Innovating and generating tooling to assist testing tasks and potential future issues
- Understanding overall system processes and architecture to assess issues and impacts
- Building relationships and representing test community views to help build enhancements
Experience
- Practitioner level experience of automated testing and automated test tools
- Practitioner level experience in both functional and non-functional testing
- Experience in integration practices
- Experience in training and mentoring technical test skills
- Practitioner in technical analysis, able to absorb large amounts of conflicting information to determine solutions
- Understanding of environment needs and capabilities

Qualifications
- ISTQB Foundation in Software Testing (essential)
- Degree level or equivalent in Computing (essential)
- Advanced Technical Test Analyst (desirable)
- Advanced Test Automation Engineer (desirable)
