About the Role

As a Server and Cloud Engineer within the Corporate IT Server and Cloud team, you will support critical infrastructure, cloud platforms and associated services across Synnovis and other SYNLAB UK business units. Based at the Synnovis Hub in Blackfriars, you will work across a diverse technology estate supporting colleagues and services throughout the wider organisation.
This technically varied role involves maintaining secure, reliable and well-documented server, cloud and infrastructure platforms. You will contribute to service improvements, project delivery and the transition of new technologies into business-as-usual support. The role requires strong technical experience, operational discipline and a practical approach to service improvement.
You will collaborate closely with Corporate IT teams including Network, M365, Modern Workplace, Service Desk, End User Technology, Cyber Security, business stakeholders and Managed Service Providers to ensure services meet operational, security and business requirements.
Key responsibilities include supporting and managing Microsoft Azure, Windows Server environments, identity and access management, monitoring, automation, documentation, incident resolution and project delivery. You will help maintain operational resilience through knowledge sharing, standardisation and continual service improvement.

Experience
- Previous experience with Windows Server operating systems
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory or Entra Domain Services
- Experience with Microsoft Azure
- Experience with Microsoft PowerShell
- Experience with Microsoft Remote Desktop Server (RDS) or Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD)
- Desirable: Experience working in environments with change management, ITIL frameworks, or healthcare settings
About You
- Strong troubleshooting skills for complex infrastructure and cloud issues
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation
- Understanding of security and access management principles
- Knowledge of backup, patching and vulnerability management
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a geographically distributed team
- Experience working with third-party suppliers and Managed Service Providers
- Ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical audiences
Qualifications
- English GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent or higher
- Mathematics GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent or higher
