About the Role
As a Critical Environment Technician (CET) within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will be responsible for maintaining the critical infrastructure that ensures our datacenters operate continuously and efficiently. Your role will involve coordinating with suppliers and vendors, recognizing safe versus unsafe work environments, and performing hands-on maintenance and repairs on critical environment equipment such as electrical, mechanical, controls, and generators. You will respond to onsite incidents, leading incident response teams and collaborating with other critical facilities professionals to resolve issues swiftly and safely.
Microsoft’s CO+I team powers cloud services supporting Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure, managing over 200 datacenters globally. You will contribute to this mission by inspecting and supervising facility equipment, utilizing telemetry and maintenance management systems, and following established emergency and operating procedures. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and reliability while fostering personal and professional development through training, career rotation programs, and certifications.

Experience
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent AND mission critical services work or applied learning experience in high availability environments such as data centers, oil and gas refineries, hospitals, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or related fields OR equivalent experience.
Ability to work shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include an Associate's Degree or technical trade certification (e.g., military, trade school) and extensive mission critical services experience. Ability to pass Microsoft Cloud background checks and meet customer and government security screening requirements is mandatory.
