About the Role
The London Borough of Harrow is seeking a dedicated Social Worker (Approved Mental Health Professional - AMHP) to join its Adult Social Care service. This role involves working within a specialised AMHP team providing Mental Health Act assessments during office hours and as required beyond these times for residents of Harrow who need this statutory service. The post holder will collaborate closely with emergency services including the Police, London Ambulance Service, A&E staff, and Fire Service where appropriate. Duties include carrying out statutory responsibilities relating to adults and older people in accordance with Harrow Council’s policies and procedures. This is a vital role contributing to the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable adults within the community.

Experience
- Experience working as a Social Worker within mental health or adult social care settings is essential.
- Proven ability to carry out Mental Health Act assessments and statutory duties related to adults and older people.
- Experience working collaboratively with emergency services and multi-agency teams.

Qualifications
- Recognised professional Social Work qualification (e.g., CQSW, Dip SW, or degree in social work).
- Registered as a social worker with Social Work England or equivalent registration if a nurse, occupational therapist, or psychologist.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Detailed knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and related regulations and guidance.
- An acceptable enhanced DBS check is required due to the nature of the role involving access to children and vulnerable adults.
