About the Role
As a Specialist Dietitian within the learning disability and mental health inpatient services, you will undertake clinical assessments and provide appropriate dietetic interventions including nutrition support, eating disorders management, enteral feeding, dysphagia, and chronic health conditions. You will recommend and advise on the prescription of suitable ACBS products such as nutritional supplements and enteral feeding products. The role involves working with clients who have complex physical and psychological needs, using outcome measures as appropriate. You will be responsible for managing a caseload autonomously, prioritising clinical demands and balancing client-related activities. You will work flexibly as part of the dietetic service, covering other dietetic areas as needed, while maintaining a high standard of clinical practice. Collaboration is key, as you will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team, participating in clinical team meetings, ward rounds, community meetings, and care plan reviews. You will adhere to clinical standards and guidelines set by the British Dietetic Association and communicate effectively with service users who may have significant barriers to understanding, using a range of verbal and nonverbal communication skills. Additionally, you will liaise with dietitians in acute hospitals and primary care to ensure smooth patient transfers between services.

Requirements

Experience
Experience working with clients with complex physical and psychological needs within learning disability and mental health settings is essential. Proven ability to manage a caseload autonomously and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

You are a confident and autonomous practitioner with excellent communication skills, able to engage with service users who have diverse intellectual, communication, and emotional needs. You demonstrate flexibility and a commitment to maintaining high clinical standards. You work collaboratively within teams and are proactive in treatment planning and clinical decision-making.

Qualifications
Registered Dietitian with relevant professional qualifications. Adherence to clinical standards and guidelines produced by the British Dietetic Association is required.
