About the Role
The Specialist Practitioner School Nurse will work closely with the Head of Service to deliver the strategic vision for children’s services across the Borough. This role promotes interagency collaboration between Health and Local Authority services to achieve the best outcomes for children in Sutton. The post holder will be the principal point of contact for allocated schools, developing and delivering cooperative working arrangements that support health outcomes for children and young people. They will facilitate partnership working across schools and other organisations, delivering the Healthy Child Programme to state maintained and academy schools within the Borough. The role involves early identification of health needs and interventions to maximise children's potential, empowering pupils, families, and school staff to take responsibility for health individually and as a community. Ensuring timely support and interventions for vulnerable children is a key responsibility.

About the Service and Team
The post holder will be employed by the London Borough of Sutton but will work as part of the Sutton Health and Care Alliance (SHC). SHC is a partnership of local health and care providers including the Council, Epsom and St Helier’s NHS Trust, South West London and St Georges MH Trust, and the GP Federation. The Alliance delivers innovative, joined-up health and social care services for Sutton residents.

Experience
Experience working within children’s health services or school nursing is desirable. Proven ability to work collaboratively with schools and partner organisations to improve health outcomes for children and young people.

Qualifications
Registered Nurse with relevant specialist qualifications in school nursing or community children’s nursing. Evidence of continuous professional development and commitment to maintaining professional standards.
