About the Role
Merton, Wandsworth and Richmond Councils have joined forces to form a unique Regulatory Services Partnership (RSP) delivering a range of critical and statutory services that help keep Londoners safe. The RSP covers a diverse population and high-profile venues and events, including the All England Lawn Tennis Club (Wimbledon), AFC Wimbledon, Twickenham Rugby Stadium, the Battersea Power Station development, Battersea Park Fireworks and numerous other events and music concerts. This unique partnership offers excellent professional development opportunities, varied work locations and the option of flexible/hybrid working.

This newly created role supports the delivery of the Council’s Health and Safety and Safety at Sports Grounds functions and provides a varied and challenging workload. Key responsibilities include statutory duties under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 such as annual inspections of stadiums and regulated stands, performance inspections, and representation at Safety Advisory Group meetings (SAGs). The role also involves reviewing event safety management plans, risk assessments and other event safety documentation, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, providing professional advice, and supporting senior management as well as commercial and community entities.

Requirements

Experience
- Knowledge and practical experience in sports ground safety work gained through working with sports grounds, emergency services, building control, or council sports ground/event safety.
- Experience of the regulatory frameworks surrounding sports ground and event safety.
- Knowledge or practical experience in enforcement.
