About the Role
As a Convenience Store Manager at Sainsbury's, you will have full control over your shop and be an accountable leader driving the delivery of our purpose: making good food joyful, accessible and affordable for everyone, every day. You will lead a team of Customer and Trading Managers who run the shifts, while you plan and prepare for upcoming trading activity with a commercial mindset, anticipating challenges from today up to six months ahead. You will ensure all operations are safe, legal, and aligned with business initiatives and change programmes. This role carries significant responsibility and requires making difficult decisions, but it is highly rewarding.
As a hands-on leader, you will empower your team to deliver brilliant customer experiences and continuously improve the customer journey. You will oversee product availability, safety standards, and seamless daily operations, creating a motivating environment for colleagues and an exceptional shopping experience for customers. Your leadership will bring our purpose to life through bold actions and a passion for service.
Experience
- Proven experience managing a fast-paced retail operation with accountability for customer service, sales, and team performance.
- Experience leading teams of managers and colleagues, role modelling excellent service and business values.
- Confident in managing employee relations cases, including dismissals, with a strong understanding of HR policies.
- Skilled in using data and insight to inform planning, improve performance, and enhance customer experience.
- Experience leading change, maintaining team motivation and wellbeing during transitions.
