About the Role
As a Convenience Store Manager at Sainsbury's, you will have full control over your shop and be an accountable leader ensuring we deliver on our purpose to make good food joyful, accessible and affordable for everyone, every day. You will lead a team of Customer and Trading Managers who run the shifts, while you plan and prepare for upcoming trading activity with a commercial mindset, anticipating issues from today to six months ahead. Your role involves ensuring everything is safe and legal, managing change programmes, and making difficult decisions. This position carries significant responsibility but is highly rewarding. You will drive brilliant customer experiences, constantly striving to improve the customer journey. You will lead by example, role modelling excellent service and business values through your teams. Using data and insight, you will inform planning, improve performance, and enhance customer experience and KPIs. You will manage employee relations cases including dismissals, confidently applying HR policies, and lead change while maintaining team wellbeing and engagement. Your leadership will empower your team to raise the bar every day, ensuring product availability, safety standards, and seamless daily operations. This hands-on role makes work more rewarding for colleagues and elevates the shopping experience for customers, bringing our purpose to life one action at a time.
Experience
Proven experience managing a fast-paced retail operation with accountability for delivering customer, financial, and organisational outcomes. Experience leading teams of managers and colleagues, managing employee relations including dismissals, and applying HR policies consistently and with care. Skilled in using data and insight to improve store performance and customer experience. Experience in leading change and maintaining team motivation and wellbeing.
