About the Role
As a Support Worker within the NHS, you will organise and provide person-centred and culturally appropriate activities for service users in line with the OPD Pathway principles. Working as part of a team under supervision, you will deliver interventions using desistance principles to help service users achieve and maintain a stable, socially included life in the community. You will support engagement in social, recreational, and occupational activities, applying psychologically-informed individual and group work approaches under guidance from qualified staff. Your role includes assisting service users to work towards personal goals consistent with their psychological formulation and risk considerations.
You will assess and manage risk within the Hub setting, communicating relevant observations to qualified staff and ensuring safety within a desistance-oriented framework. Partnership working with other agencies, including third sector organisations and criminal justice services, is a key part of this role. You will also be responsible for providing information about the Hub and its programmes to service users and professionals.
Effective communication skills are essential to form positive working relationships, demonstrating warmth and empathy to empower service users. You will ensure timely and accurate recording and communication of service user contacts and activities within the team.
In addition, you will support the Social Inclusion Lead in the day-to-day running of the Hubs, including setting up premises, facilitating activities, managing physical resources and supplies, and ensuring environmental safety checks are completed. You will also participate in research, audit, and service evaluation activities aligned with local priorities.
Proficiency in IT, including email, intranet, clinical record systems, word processing, and databases, is required to support clinical and service-related documentation.
This role requires maintaining the highest professional standards through continuous professional development, supervision, appraisal, and engagement with current best practices. You will support service users who may become distressed or present challenging behaviours and work in environments that may expose you to verbal and physical abuse. Maintaining accurate clinical records and adhering to Trust policies and procedures is essential.
Keeping up to date with OPD Pathway guidance and local policies related to the client group is also a key responsibility.
Experience
Experience working with vulnerable service users in a clinical or community setting is desirable. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and under supervision is essential.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are stated; however, relevant experience and a commitment to continuous professional development are important. Proficiency in IT and clinical record keeping is required. Knowledge of safeguarding principles for children and adults is essential.
