About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and talented individual to join Elmbridge Borough Council as a Technical Support Officer (Planning) within our dynamic Business Support Team. This team is the engine room supporting the entire Planning Service, responsible for validating and registering all planning applications, processing Planning Appeals, administering and monitoring the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), and leading programmes of process review, system updates, and service performance monitoring.

Your typical working day will include validating a wide range of planning applications, responding to enquiries from applicants, agents and the public with clear and professional advice, managing planning case administration from submission through to decision, supporting coordination of planning appeals and enforcement cases to ensure statutory deadlines and procedural requirements are met, and contributing to improvements in planning processes, systems, and digital tools to enhance service delivery.

This role offers more than just a job; it is your chance to play a significant role in the community and be an integral part of the borough’s development journey. You will join a supportive team committed to continuous improvement and delivering positive outcomes for our communities.

Elmbridge Borough Council values flexibility, wellbeing, and learning and development. We offer a hybrid working approach to support work-life balance, a strong wellbeing programme, bespoke learning and development plans, an excellent pension scheme, discounts with local businesses, free employee parking at the Civic Centre, your birthday off, and time off between Christmas and New Year without using annual leave.
