About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the busy Housing Options Unit for a Temporary Accommodation Officer. You will work within the Private Rented Sector and Temporary Accommodation Team, two vital services responsible for securing good quality, affordable private rented accommodation for households threatened with homelessness, and arranging emergency temporary accommodation placements while liaising closely with hotel and accommodation providers.
This varied role plays a key part in helping the Council meet its duties to homeless households. You will coordinate temporary accommodation and move-on arrangements, working closely with registered providers, private landlords, and partner agencies. The role involves placing households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, nominating tenants for available properties, and communicating with customers and stakeholders by telephone, email, and face-to-face.
You will be part of a small team and need a flexible approach to work, managing a varied workload, prioritising tasks effectively, and adapting to changing demands in a fast-paced environment.
Experience
Experience of dealing with members of the public and delivering a high-quality, customer-focused service is essential. Experience maintaining accurate records and databases is also required.
About you
You will be well organised with strong administrative and interpersonal skills. You should be numerate, IT literate, and confident in using a range of software packages including Microsoft Office. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, with the ability to produce clear and effective correspondence. You must have a flexible and proactive approach to work, able to work independently and as part of a team, managing a varied workload and adapting to changing demands.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are stated; however, relevant housing experience or administrative skills will be advantageous.
