About the Role
The Tower Hamlets Arts and Music Education Service (THAMES) is seeking experienced Strings and Primary Curriculum Music tutors to teach in schools. Tutors will deliver individual, small group, and/or whole class music lessons in line with THAMES policies and the Service Level Agreement (SLA) to schools in Tower Hamlets. There is also potential to direct and support ensembles at THAMES Music Centres during evenings and Saturday mornings. This role requires candidates to have experience in leading whole class tuition (Strings) or delivering Curriculum Music in primary schools. The postholder will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check on appointment and every three years thereafter. Being placed on the Panel of Music Tutors does not guarantee work but ensures eligibility to be selected for teaching assignments. Posts are part time, term time only, and based in various schools within the borough.

Experience
- Successful instrumental or curriculum teaching experience in a music service or school, delivering small group, whole class, or classroom curriculum music lessons.
- Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development.
- Evidence of significant practical music-making at a high level of performance.

Enthusiastic and committed to delivering high-quality music education to children. Able to work flexibly across different school settings and times, including evenings and weekends. Professional, reliable, and able to work within the policies and guidelines of THAMES.

Qualifications
Relevant music qualifications and teaching experience are required. Candidates must be cleared to work with children through a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
