About the Role
As a Therapies Assistant, you will participate in activities aimed at improving therapy services at HLDP. You will provide support to team members and students, working flexibly to meet patient and service requirements. The role involves adapting communication skills to facilitate patients' understanding and expression, being creative in the use of therapy materials, and undertaking administrative duties including managing the organisation of training courses. You will work both directly and indirectly with adults with learning disabilities, their families, and support workers to optimise patients' skills, independence, and quality of life. Sensitivity to social, cultural, and economic issues is essential. Additionally, you will assist in the provision of training for staff and colleagues with support from therapists.
Experience
Experience and/or formal training working with adults with learning disabilities is desirable. Ability to support therapy services and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
About you
Good communication skills with the ability to adapt communication methods to meet patient needs. Creative approach to therapy materials. Sensitive and aware of social, cultural, and economic factors affecting patients. Flexible and supportive team player willing to assist in training and administrative tasks.
Qualifications
Basic theoretical knowledge and understanding of difficulties associated with people with learning disabilities and appropriate therapeutic approaches and techniques. Formal training related to the role is advantageous.
