About the Role
Join Greencore, one of the UK’s leading creators of convenience food, following our combination with Bakkavor in January 2026. We employ over 28,000 colleagues across 36 manufacturing sites and 21 distribution depots in the UK and US, delivering fresh and frozen food to thousands of stores daily. At our Bow site, with a team of around 1100 colleagues, we produce sandwiches, wraps, platters, sub rolls, and baguettes for major UK retailers including Sainsbury’s, Co-op, Asda, and Morrisons.

As a Work in Progress (WIP) Operative, you will work in the chillers area where ingredients are stored ready for production lines. Your role is vital to ensure manufacturing lines are supplied with all required ingredients promptly. You will collaborate closely with the preparation team, Production Line Leaders, and Line Feeders to prepare ingredients and mixes according to shift plans, maintain traceability, and minimize waste.

Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with site safety systems and Good Manufacturing Practices, preparing ingredients for current and following shifts, accurate traceability, stock rotation using first in, first out, monitoring ingredient use-by dates, participating in stock taking, and escalating any issues to your Line Manager. This role requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency to maintain excellent service levels to the manufacturing lines.

Experience
Experience in a food production environment is desired but not essential. Experience involving manual handling is also preferred.
