About the Role
Are you passionate about people, learning, and making a positive impact in local government? We are looking for a motivated and hard-working individual to join us as a Workforce Development Coordinator. Sitting at the heart of our HR & OD service, this role supports the fast-paced delivery of solutions-focused Learning and Organisational Development (L&D/OD) services across the Council.
Your day-to-day work will be varied, ranging from coordinating high-profile projects like our Work Experience Programme, Staff Awards, and Staff Network Day, to managing L&D systems, administering training, and drafting engaging staff communications.
We place a strong emphasis on potential, determination, and enthusiasm. You don't need to be a seasoned L&D expert to succeed here. We're looking for someone who is eager to learn, grow, and make a difference.
The London Borough of Sutton is situated less than 30 minutes by train from Central London, with direct connections to London Victoria and London Bridge. Sutton boasts award-winning parks and open spaces, low crime rates, affordable housing, and great schools. The borough is continuously investing in the health, wellbeing, and education of its residents and future generations, as set out in the “Ambitious for Sutton” corporate plan.
Sutton is home to the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research. Together with the development of the London Cancer Hub, Sutton aims to be the world’s leading life-science district specialising in cancer research and treatment, creating around 13,000 jobs and contributing £1.2bn annually to the UK economy.
The Council is a driving force within the South London Partnership of five outer south west London boroughs focused on strategic growth, regeneration, and investment. Sutton supports flexible working arrangements, including home working and agile working patterns, providing the equipment and tools needed to work effectively.
Working at Sutton means being part of an ambitious, forward-looking team delivering high-impact programmes and partnerships that make a lasting difference to residents, communities, and the environment. The Council is committed to tackling the climate emergency through innovative approaches and new technologies.
If you are looking for an opportunity that will challenge you to deliver more, support your personal ambitions, and put residents at the heart of everything you do, Sutton could be the place for you.
