About the Role
HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family Courts and Tribunals in England and Wales. Our Admin Officers play a critical role, providing excellent administrative support and customer service to court users, judiciary and management. Working as part of a team, you will contribute to the overall operational, performance and service standard targets across your area of work. You will progress cases through the court/tribunal system and provide administrative support to functions within HMCTS. You will have regular contact with court and tribunal users, including members of the Judiciary and the legal profession.
Your duties will include preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings; creating and updating records on our in-house computer system; accurately resulting courts and interpreting the information required on court files; checking and verifying documents, records, accounts, claims and returns against criteria, regulations or procedures; collecting and assembling information for returns, results, accounts, statements, warrants, statistical analysis and reports; and communicating effectively with the public, judiciary, other court and tribunal users, and representatives of other agencies and organisations.
This is a customer-facing role requiring you to be office based to provide HMCTS services to the public. You will need to be adaptable, able to multi-task and work efficiently in a busy environment while helping court users navigate the justice system.
Experience
Experience in administrative roles or customer service is desirable but not essential. You should be comfortable working in a busy environment and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
About you
You will have a friendly and approachable manner with excellent attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. You should be organised, able to prioritise your workload efficiently, and adaptable to using various software packages. A commitment to delivering proactive and effective support to customers by phone and email is important.
Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required for this role. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and commitment to public service are key.
