About the Role
We are offering an exciting opportunity to join HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) on a temporary summer placement to support court services. HMCTS is an agency of the Ministry of Justice responsible for administering criminal, civil, and family courts and tribunals in England and Wales. These internships provide insight into court operations and involve supporting teams with general administrative duties to progress cases through the court or tribunal system. Some roles include regular direct contact with court users, judiciary members, and legal professionals. You will work as part of a flexible team, receiving management support and appropriate training. Placements commence across June and July 2026, lasting 12 weeks, with a minimum commitment of 10 weeks. These roles are office-based only and do not support hybrid working. Due to the short-term nature, skilled worker sponsorship is not available, and candidates must have the right to work in the UK for the entire duration.
Experience
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong IT, administration, and organisational skills are essential.
About you
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach. You must be eligible to work in the UK for the entire duration of the internship. Flexibility to work at your allocated office base and potentially other local HMCTS offices on a regular or ad hoc basis is required.
Qualifications
No formal qualifications are specified; however, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment vetting checks. Vetting requirements vary by location and include Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) or Counter Terrorism Check (CTC). Applicants for CTC sites must have held permanent UK residence for the last 3 years and not have lived or worked overseas during this period. Failure to complete vetting by 5 June 2026 will result in withdrawal of provisional offers.
