As an Administrative Assistant within the Cancer Data Team, you will support the 2 Week Wait (2WW) service, providing Trust-level administrative support for multi-disciplinary teams focused on patients on suspected cancer pathways. Your role will involve booking appointments, managing referrals, supporting the administrative functions of MDTs, and proactively tracking patients to ensure timely care in line with cancer breach targets.
This position requires working flexibly across acute hospital sites and specialty boundaries, with a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-focused service in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will be the first point of contact for patients referred via the 2WW call centre and will liaise with colleagues across the Trust and external agencies to facilitate seamless patient pathways.

Experience
- Proven experience handling confidential documents and information
- Experience managing difficult customers and challenging situations
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team
- Desirable: knowledge of medical terminology, NHS administrative experience, competent data collection and quality assurance
About you
- Compassionate and patient-focused with excellent communication skills
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing, face-to-face, and by phone, including conveying sensitive information tactfully
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision and develop good working relationships at all levels
- Understanding of confidentiality and its application in the workplace
- Desirable: knowledge of key waiting times targets including 18 weeks and cancer pathways, familiarity with Trust hospital systems
Qualifications
- Essential: General education with English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience
- Desirable: IT package qualification, customer service qualification or training
