About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Nuclear Medicine Department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust as a Patient Access Coordinator. This permanent, full-time role involves providing comprehensive administrative and clerical support within a growing Nuclear Medicine Service. You will be the first point of contact for patients and service users, handling patient queries and booking outpatient appointments while working closely with clinical teams to ensure timely and appropriate scheduling according to care pathways and national targets.

The Nuclear Medicine Department offers specialised services including thyroid clinics, general nuclear medicine, inpatient facilities, and osteoporosis screening, and is internationally recognised for research and development.
As part of a dedicated team, you will deliver excellent customer care, communicate effectively with patients and staff at all levels, and support a range of clinical teams in a busy environment. This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task and use initiative under pressure.
Experience
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment, demonstrating the ability to handle difficult customers and challenging situations
- Experience working both autonomously and as part of a team
About you
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise workload efficiently and accurately to meet tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills, able to relate to diverse professional staff and the public, convey sensitive information tactfully, and provide non-clinical advice to patients
- Ability to work under pressure and use initiative in a busy environment
- Understanding of equal opportunities and confidentiality principles
- Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Qualifications
- Good general education with English and Maths to GCSE standard or equivalent
- Relevant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification or experience
- Customer service qualification or training is desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology and NHS administrative experience are advantageous
- Familiarity with key waiting times targets (including 18 weeks, DM01) and Trust hospital systems (e.g. EPIC) is desirable
