About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and beyond. We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Transport Shift Managers to join our 24/7 Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS). NEPTS supports patients who cannot travel to or from our hospitals by any other means due to medical or mobility conditions, ensuring safe and timely transport to and from our Trust sites and across mainland UK.

The role involves supporting the NEPTS Transport Manager to deliver a high-quality transport service, ensuring smooth operational management of the Transport Department. You will be responsible for deploying operational resources effectively across the NEPTS fleet, managing teams including Emergency Care Assistants, Ambulance Care Assistants, and Fleet Controllers. Utilising specialist telematics and maintenance systems, you will ensure ambulance resources and equipment are available and compliant with safety standards.

This is a busy, friendly, and supportive team environment committed to continuous improvement and delivering excellent patient care. The service operates under ISO9001 standards and undergoes regular external audits with positive outcomes.

Requirements

Experience
- Significant experience in staff supervision and management
- Experience in a transport environment, preferably within the NHS
- Experience as a Patient Transport Field Trainer
- Experience with vehicle maintenance systems
- Proven ability to manage and deliver an effective service
- Desirable: Experience in customer-focused roles within healthcare

Qualifications
- Essential: Educated to HNC level, equivalent diploma, or relevant experience
- Desirable: Detailed understanding of the NEPTS CLERIC system

Skills
- Strong leadership and influencing skills
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise a variable workload
- Willingness to cover different shifts as required
- Desirable: In-depth knowledge of NEPTS systems (CLERIC) related to fleet planning and allocation
- Desirable: Financial management and analysis skills
