An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Acute Tobacco Dependence Treatment Team at Guy’s Hospital. You will be responsible for directing and delivering a range of tobacco dependence treatment interventions in the acute environment, managing a growing team of referral coordinators, tobacco dependence advisors, and specialists. Your role will include developing and delivering inpatient and outpatient clinics, ward-based interventions, outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary team training across hospital sites.
You will lead the implementation of key initiatives including the Long Term Plan for tobacco, the COSTED programme in Emergency Department, and contribute to the Vital 5 agenda. This role supports the Trust’s commitment to prevention and promoting optimised physical health and wellbeing.
Main Duties
- Provide strategic framework, development, and operational management of the Trust’s stop smoking services
- Line manage the Acute Tobacco Dependence Treatment team
- Collaborate with SEL ICB and community tobacco dependence colleagues to support service delivery
- Work with healthcare professionals to ensure Long Term Plan policies are embedded for patients in a smoke-free hospital environment
- Support and develop stop smoking initiatives such as Stop before the Op and COSTED
- Promote the stop smoking referral system across all hospital departments

Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in smoking cessation or tobacco control related work
- Proven track record of leading multi-agency partnerships or projects
- Demonstrable contribution to operational and strategic objectives
- Experience managing people and performance
- Experience developing performance management and monitoring frameworks
- Ability to build relationships across professional groups and agencies
- Desirable: Experience in an acute healthcare setting working across professional staff groups

- Skilled in delivering complex project plans and managing work programmes

Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience
- NCSCT qualified practitioner
- Desirable: Post-graduate qualification (Masters or post-graduate diploma) in a relevant field
