About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services in south London and specialist care across the country. As part of King’s Health Partners (KHP), an Academic Health Sciences Centre, this newly created Chief of Staff role offers a unique leadership opportunity to support the KHP Executive in overseeing a diverse portfolio. The post holder will play a key role in implementing the KHP 2030 strategy, working closely with the Executive Director and senior leadership team to provide expert advice, management, and organisational support. Responsibilities include managing corporate affairs, communications, business support functions, and fostering strong partnerships with King’s College London and other stakeholders. This role demands a highly autonomous leader with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills to navigate a complex system and deliver strategic outcomes.

Requirements

Experience
- Extensive experience delivering change and performance through management teams, ideally across both NHS and university/education sectors.
- Proven track record in NHS regulatory processes, governance, strategic programme reporting, and development of governance models.
- Demonstrated success in continuous business planning, programme/project management, and delivering value for money outcomes.
- Extensive people management experience with strong knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
- Competency in budget analysis and synthesis.

- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with authority to manage relationships across organisational boundaries.
- Highly autonomous, strategic thinker with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications
- Extensive professional knowledge acquired through degree and specialist training, ideally to doctorate level or equivalent.
- MBA, management qualification, or equivalent experience.
- Proven success delivering effective corporate services in large, multifaceted environments including staff management, financial management, and change management.
