The Deputy Billing and Operations Manager role sits within the Finance Improvement team, responsible for delivering the billing function for Private Patient services at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals (RBHH). Reporting to the Billing and Operations Manager, you will lead the RBHH Private Patients billing function and Customer Services Officers team, ensuring a professional, efficient billing service that meets internal and external standards.

This role involves providing expert advice and guidance to Private Patient Service Managers and Business Development Managers to support decision-making, process improvements, and commercial targets. You will liaise with patients, consultants, and insurance companies, assist with financial matters related to Private Patient income, and support the implementation of billing process improvements Trust-wide.

As part of a large, dynamic organisation with over 23,500 staff, you will contribute to a culture of high-quality, safe, and patient-focused care, working collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders to enhance billing services and patient experience.

Requirements

Experience
- Significant billing management experience
- Staff management experience
- Experience of Private Patient charging and billing, including standard and non-standard practices
- Senior experience within NHS or Private Patient services
- Experience managing demanding teams and leading process and change initiatives

About you
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing deadlines
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and coach staff
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written, oral, presentation, and facilitation abilities
- Ability to work autonomously, make decisions guided by policies, and manage complex queries independently
- Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to partnership working, inclusion, and service integration
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and work effectively as part of a team

Qualifications
- Relevant finance degree, business management qualification, CIMA qualified, or substantial finance experience
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Desirable: Understanding of lean methodology
- Desirable: Experience in Private Patient Units or private healthcare within an NHS facility
- Desirable: Familiarity with Compucare 8 software
