About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care for patients from further afield. The Trust is part of King’s Health Partners (KHP), an Academic Health Sciences Centre combining world-class research, education and clinical practice for patient benefit. This newly created Chief of Staff role offers an exciting opportunity to support the KHP Executive in overseeing the full portfolio and leading the implementation of the KHP 2030 strategy launched in 2025. Sitting on the Executive and senior leadership team, you will provide expert advice, management and organisational support to the Executive Director and executive team, manage corporate affairs, communications and business support functions, and work closely with King’s College London to maintain strong university partnerships. The role requires significant on-site presence across partner sites and offers a chance to influence strategic delivery within a complex, multifaceted environment.

Requirements

Experience
- Extensive experience delivering change and performance through management teams, ideally across both NHS and university/education sectors.
- Proven track record in NHS regulatory processes, governance, strategic programme reporting, and developing governance models.
- Experience managing staff with highly developed people management skills and knowledge of relevant policies.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse and synthesise budgets effectively.
- Successful delivery of effective corporate services in large, multifaceted environments including governance, staff management, financial management and change management.

About You
- Strong organisational ability with well-developed resource and staff management skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with authority to foster and manage relationships across organisational boundaries.
- Ability to work autonomously with high-level interpersonal, communication and influencing skills within complex systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of the changing NHS and university environments and their interfaces.
- Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and to supporting a motivated, engaged workforce.

Qualifications
- Extensive professional knowledge acquired through degree and supplemented by specialist training, to doctorate or equivalent level.
- MBA, management qualification or equivalent experience is essential.
- Proven successful track record in delivering corporate services and strategic leadership in complex organisations.
