About the Role
Janus Henderson is embarking on a firm-wide AI transformation programme to embed AI capabilities across every business function and become the most technologically sophisticated asset manager globally. The AI Business Partner for Builders will lead the expansion of the AI Academy’s efforts to enable engineers, architects, product owners, analysts, data engineers, quants, and platform specialists to integrate AI into technology delivery and operations.
This role involves designing and running the Builders curriculum, establishing a cohort model, and partnering across Technology, Investments, and Innovation to ensure builders utilize modern AI tooling effectively. You will work closely with Percepta and the technology organization to extend AI-native application development on the JHOS platform.
This position combines hands-on technical expertise, program design, and change enablement. You will engage directly with builders on high-priority projects and disseminate learnings across the community. Reporting to the Head of Innovation, you will operate within the AI Academy framework alongside the AI Business Partner team, sharing infrastructure, governance, communications, and adoption metrics.
Your toolkit includes the modern AI engineering stack such as coding agents, agentic harnesses, MCP, in-platform AI in Snowflake and Databricks, and the JHOS / NEXUS platform. The firm’s AI strategy is platform-agnostic, requiring ongoing evaluation and deployment of new tools.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and running a comprehensive Builders curriculum with general and role-specific tracks
- Leading the Builders cohort, iterating curriculum based on feedback, and enabling team-level training cascades
- Collaborating with Percepta and Technology to enable AI-native application development including governance and orchestration
- Delivering hands-on workshops aligned with real sprint work covering coding agents, CI/CD, planning with LLMs, and team skill sharing
- Partnering with Technology, Security, and Architecture to resolve adoption blockers such as access, acceptable-use, and budget
- Developing and implementing metrics for adoption and effectiveness within the AI Academy framework
- Staying current with AI engineering advancements and translating them into practical curriculum updates
- Ensuring alignment with governance, data privacy, and compliance requirements
- Performing other duties as assigned
Janus Henderson offers hybrid working, generous holiday policies, excellent health and wellbeing benefits, paid volunteer time, professional development support, family leave benefits, employee networking events, and lunch allowance within a subsidized onsite canteen.
Experience
- Hands-on engineering credibility with experience shipping software and using modern coding agents (e.g., GitHub Copilot agent mode, Claude Code, OpenCode)
- Working fluency with AI engineering stack including agentic harnesses, MCP, repo-level context, agentic CI/CD patterns, and long-running agents
- Curriculum design and facilitation experience for technical training or enablement programs
- Strong cross-persona communication skills with engineers, product owners, architects, and senior leadership
- Practical change management instincts to identify and remove adoption blockers
- Business analysis and measurement literacy with familiarity in DORA metrics, SPACE, developer experience research, and survey design
- Self-directed and comfortable with ambiguity in a new and evolving program
- Strong documentation skills producing reusable curriculum, patterns, and playbooks
- Experience working in regulated environments where governance, compliance, and data sensitivity are critical
About You
- Credible technical leader who can engage with senior engineers and technologists
- Effective communicator able to translate complex AI engineering concepts across diverse roles
- Proactive problem solver with a focus on enabling adoption and value realization
- Collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-evolving environment
- Committed to continuous learning and staying current with AI engineering trends
