About the Role
Controllers plays a critical role in ensuring the firm meets its financial control and reporting obligations as a global, regulated, and public financial institution. As part of the firm’s second line of defence, Controllers provides essential analysis to ensure the accuracy of internal and external financial and non-financial information, safeguarding the firm’s assets through independent scrutiny. The team regularly engages with regulators and auditors, fostering a strong culture of control and challenge to protect the firm from reputational and other risks. This role offers exposure to Goldman Sachs’ diverse businesses, products, and sophisticated technology systems, making it an excellent opportunity for those seeking to deepen their understanding of financial services in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

The Accounting Policy function focuses on applying accounting standards and firm policies to transactions and corporate activities. The successful candidate will assist in monitoring and interpreting emerging technical accounting issues under IFRS and U.S. GAAP, and support the implementation of new and existing disclosures in financial statements and SEC filings. This role involves partnering with business units and corporate functions to provide technical accounting advice, assessing new financial reporting developments, advising on accounting policies for new products and complex transactions, and contributing to training and policy compliance activities.

Requirements

Experience
ACA or ACCA qualification required. Experience in financial services with a Big 4 accounting firm is preferred. Solid knowledge of IFRS is essential, with experience in U.S. GAAP considered desirable. Proven project management skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment are important. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to collaborate across divisional teams.

Qualifications
