About the Role
Our Risk teams develop comprehensive processes to monitor, assess, and manage the risk of expected and unexpected events that may adversely impact the firm. Risk professionals execute critical day-to-day risk management activities, lead projects, and contribute to the ongoing advancement of a robust risk management program. Effective coordination with executive management, business units, control departments, and technology is critical for success.

Capital Risk, part of the firm’s second line of defense reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), assesses the firm’s capital management framework, regulatory capital policies, and related interpretations. This includes independent review and challenge of capital ratio targets, planned capital actions, regulatory capital calculations, analysis of documentation, independent testing, and assessment of calculation appropriateness and alignment with regulatory capital rules.

Responsibilities include understanding capital regulations (e.g., PRA Basel 3.1, US capital rules), monitoring and challenging regulatory capital rule impacts and risk appetite, assessing capital regulation effects on transactions, products, and business proposals, validating regulatory capital approaches and calculations, challenging the firm’s capital management strategy, and communicating sophisticated regulatory capital analysis to senior managers, businesses, and regulators.

Requirements

Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience at the PRA, European regulator, or a bank with IRB/IMM/IMA approach permission. Strong understanding of banking organizations, financial products, and regulatory capital implications.

About you
Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and commitment to excellence. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage evolving projects and priorities. Effective oral and written communicator. Team player who maintains mutual support within a high-profile team. Self-motivated, proactive, and willing to take on additional responsibilities. Ability to conduct research, analyze technical regulatory papers, and identify relevant issues.

Qualifications
Relevant experience and knowledge of capital regulations and risk management frameworks are essential. Formal qualifications are not explicitly stated but a strong technical and regulatory background is expected.
