About the Role
The Prime Finance business supports institutional and hedge fund clients with products and strategies that optimise funding, balance sheet utilisation, and financing efficiency. Revenues are driven through stock loan facilitation, inventory management, and funding activities across equity and fixed income instruments. As a key growth area within the global Equities franchise, Prime Finance is undergoing transformational change, requiring significant technological investment to build a best-in-class platform.
The Prime Finance Engineering team is a dynamic, innovative front office group partnering with trading, stock loan, inventory management, Synthetic Product Group (SPG), operations, prime services, and other engineering teams. The team focuses on building and enhancing applications and workflows that support high-impact financing projects benefiting both the firm and its clients.
In this role, you will design, build, and operate scalable platforms to deliver business value. You will leverage AI-driven development to understand existing codebases, generate and assess production-quality code, and accelerate the software development lifecycle. Working in an agile, global, and diverse environment, you will develop across all tiers of business-facing systems.
Your impact will include partnering with Stock Loan, Inventory Management, and SPG teams to design and build platforms that power funding strategies, optimise inventory allocation, and streamline stock loan workflows—directly improving financing efficiency. You will own end-to-end engineering delivery of strategic funding initiatives, ensuring faster business execution and market opportunity capture. Additionally, you will build scalable, reliable platforms that reduce manual processes, enabling the Equities business to handle growing volumes at lower operational cost.
Key responsibilities include innovating creative solutions to complex business and technical challenges, collaborating with engineers and domain experts to digitize business processes, managing the full software lifecycle in line with SDLC and Agile best practices, and proactively managing daily tasks and project roles while enhancing teamwork and communication skills.
Experience
Minimum 3 years of professional software development experience in an object-oriented language such as Java, Python, C++, or similar, including strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
Hands-on experience with test-driven development (TDD) and unit testing.
Proficient with strong SDLC practices including version control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated build/test/deploy workflows.
Ability to rapidly navigate, understand, and debug large and unfamiliar codebases, with or without AI assistance.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to analyse complex interdependencies between systems.
Good communication and collaboration skills across both technical and non-technical audiences.
Highly motivated with a strong commitment to delivering on timelines.
About you
You are a proactive and innovative developer who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment. You enjoy working collaboratively with diverse teams and are eager to challenge entrenched practices to drive impactful projects. An interest in financial services is expected, though prior experience is not required.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in a STEM subject such as Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields.
