About the Role
Please note that this role will close at 00:01 on Friday 18 September 2026, and we advise submitting your application by midnight on Thursday 17 September 2026.

As the UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom delivers vital work to make communications work for everyone. Our remit covers phones, broadband, online safety, TV, radio, postal services, and wireless devices. We seek people from diverse backgrounds and experiences to help us achieve our ambitions on behalf of the British public.

The Research and Intelligence (R&I) team, part of the Strategy and Research group, is essential to Ofcom’s role as an evidence-based regulator. The Market Research team ensures Ofcom’s decisions are grounded in evidence about consumer, citizen, and audience behaviour. We work with external independent market research agencies to provide the evidence needed to monitor communications markets and address policy questions. Our team collaborates closely with other Ofcom departments, often within multi-disciplinary project teams.

We are seeking a Market Research Associate to join our team, primarily working on research within the online sector, with opportunities across broadcasting, telecoms, and post sectors.

Associates manage market research projects end-to-end: defining objectives, selecting suppliers, designing, executing, and reporting research findings. We expect innovative projects using cutting-edge methodologies and analysis techniques. The role involves close collaboration with external suppliers and policy teams such as Making Sense of Media and Online Safety.

- Ability to present data clearly and concisely to audiences of varying seniority using charts, written reports, and presentations.
- Strong relationship management skills, able to build trusted business relationships internally and with market research suppliers.
- Innovative mindset with experience or appetite for embracing new research design, data gathering, and communication methods, including the application of Artificial Intelligence.
