The Online Safety Group ensures UK citizens have a safer life online, guided by the Online Safety Act 2023. The group engages with a broad range of technology companies and collaborates across Ofcom to meet the regime’s aims. The Online Safety (OS) Product Team, part of the Online Safety Data and Intelligence (OSDI) function, drives product strategy and roadmap to enable intelligence-led decisions. The team creates user-driven, sustainable solutions optimizing speed, quality, and cost, supporting Ofcom’s mission to ensure a safer digital life in the UK.
This Senior Associate role reports to the OS Product Principal and is responsible for managing the strategic direction, development, and delivery of online safety products. You will apply product management, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills to maintain and deliver the product strategy, influence cross-functional teams, and ensure value for money through budget management. The role includes driving internal tooling strategy for Online Safety, representing product work in cross-functional forums, contributing to the OS data strategy, and integrating AI in tooling and business processes.
This is an 18-month fixed-term contract.
Your Key Responsibilities
Product and Data Strategy: Manage product roadmaps and strategic frameworks, support delivery of strategic vision, identify emerging needs, monitor OKRs, represent product work in cross-functional forums, and support alignment of Data and AI strategies with organisational goals.
Product Development: Manage online safety product development across teams and delivery partners, coordinate resources and operational needs.
Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead junior colleagues.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage internal stakeholders, communicate product strategy, build relationships, manage dependencies, solve cross-functional problems, and demonstrate product value.
Data-Driven Decision Making: Use data analytics and user feedback to inform decisions, implement user testing, and ensure robust metrics and KPIs.
Budget Management/Commercial Acumen: Manage project budget ensuring value delivery.
Experience
Proven delivery in product management using standard methodologies and creative solutions. Experience with system architecture, APIs, and data warehouses. Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and prompt engineering. Knowledge of data analytics and user feedback methodologies.
Desirable experience includes familiarity with cross-organizational data strategies, proficiency in design and wireframing tools, and experience working with technology and data science teams.
