The Enforcement team plays a critical role in ensuring regulation and policy protect consumers and competition effectively. The team identifies and responds to non-compliance in telecommunications, postal, and broadcasting sectors. Working closely with policy teams, the Enforcement team carries out advocacy, enforces regulatory conditions, monitors complaints, analyses evidence, and takes swift action including investigations, penalties, and redress.
As Ofcom’s responsibilities evolve, the Enforcement team is at the forefront of key challenges such as online safety and protecting the security and resilience of the UK’s communications networks and digital infrastructure.
The Senior Associate will lead enforcement projects and casework, supporting wider enforcement input to policy projects and advocacy to promote deterrence.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Leading enforcement casework and monitoring programmes, delivering high-quality work to agreed timetables while aligning with wider policy objectives
- Leading multi-disciplinary case teams and defining scope to identify potential consumer or competition harm
- Gathering and analysing evidence to assess compliance
- Managing resources and risks effectively
- Producing clear written documents for internal and external audiences
- Supporting policy outcomes by collaborating with enforcement and policy colleagues to design enforceable policy interventions and develop proactive compliance strategies
- Developing effective working relationships across Ofcom and with external stakeholders, representing Ofcom’s position professionally
- Communicating key learnings and setting out implications of non-compliance to encourage deterrence
Experience
- Proven project management skills to organise tasks, set goals, and manage resources effectively
- Ability to build and maintain constructive working relationships internally and externally
- Experience leading and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Strong analytical skills to assess evidence and develop well-reasoned written arguments and recommendations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including drafting clear documents and confidently presenting arguments
- Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office products
