The vacancy Your typical day could start with completing open checks for the café, such as checking perishables use by dates, turning on all kitchen equipment, cooking pastries, setting up the front counter and logging into the till. Then you might be serving customers food from the menu and or preparing drinks from our espresso machine, before completing daily and or weekly/monthly cleaning jobs. As a Barista (Zero Hours) you'll be the 'face of Peabody' and no one day is the same. You'll be at the heart of your Peabody community, playing a crucial role supporting the practical needs and wellbeing of residents, centre users whilst ensuring centre safety . With a particular focus on providing a high quality and responsive coffee bar retail service, ensuring you provide an effective delivery of this service to all centre users, visitors and employees. You'll actively work with residents and centre users under the supervision of management in the Café area although autonomous working will be required with support from other centre staff. You're a people person who likes to get things done. You'll enjoy working collaboratively with other teams and you're first rate at building meaningful relationships across the various departments here at Darwin Court to enable you to find creative solutions to issues. The role is solely based here at Darwin Court but occasional travel for training purposes will be required. If you're creative in your problem-solving, energised by supporting your customers and, like us, committed to helping people flourish, we want to hear from you. To be successful in this role, you're: Able to understand Service Level Agreements and can ensure these are always met. Experienced or have knowledge of what fantastic customer service looks like. Able to prepare nutritious meals, that reflect the users' choices in a timely and cost-effective manner. Knowledgeable of food hygiene standards and able to meet these and other statutory requirements when serving food and drink. Hands-on and able to ensure a well organised coffee bar area is maintained.
