Salary
£35,391 - £47,925 plus 20% Market Supplement and Car Mileage Allowance. Additional supplement available for joining the Dangerous Structures Rota. With experience and progression through Building Safety Regulator registration classes, salary can increase up to £60,633.

About the Role
As a Class 2 Registered Building Control Inspector, you will play a key role in delivering a high-quality, robust, and legally compliant Building Control service across Richmond and Wandsworth. Your work will protect the health, safety, and welfare of people in and around buildings by ensuring developments comply with the Building Act 1984, Building Regulations, and associated legislation.

You will assess building regulation applications, carry out site inspections at appropriate stages of construction, and provide clear, proportionate, and impartial professional advice to applicants, agents, and contractors. Managing a varied caseload across both boroughs, you will contribute to a responsive, customer-focused service while maintaining regulatory independence and acting in the wider public interest.

Responsibilities include identifying and addressing non-compliant work, supporting enforcement activity where necessary, maintaining accurate and auditable records, and contributing to complaint responses and legal processes. You will operate within your competence level according to the Building Safety Regulator requirements and Code of Conduct, maintaining continuous professional development and supporting a culture of quality, transparency, and accountability.

Experience
Proven experience working within Building Control services, with a strong understanding of service delivery standards. Ability to work with minimum supervision, organising daily work programmes including plans examination to meet statutory deadlines.

Qualifications
