About the Role
United Response is seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Business Intelligence Engineer to design and deliver high-quality BI solutions that transform data into trusted, accessible insights across the organisation. You will develop robust datasets, semantic models, and reporting solutions that support both operational performance and strategic decision-making. Working closely with data engineers and stakeholders, you will translate business requirements into effective, scalable data solutions while championing best practices in reporting, governance, and self-service analytics. You will also play a key role in mentoring colleagues, improving data quality, and helping to build a strong data-driven culture across the organisation.

United Response is a well-respected charity dedicated to championing the rights of people with learning disabilities, Autism, and mental health needs. Our mission is to empower individuals to live, work, and actively participate in their communities, free from discrimination and unnecessary obstacles. We strive to be Connected, Empowered, Driven, and Bold in everything we do. Our inclusive culture and focus on health, wellbeing, and flexible working models ensure everyone feels included and can be their best.

In return, we offer a rewarding career with benefits including enhanced company sick and maternity/paternity pay, access to Blue Light Discount Card and Costco membership (T&Cs apply), free occupational health, physiotherapy, counselling and wellbeing services, two wellbeing days per year, fully paid training and nationally recognised qualifications/apprenticeships, generous annual leave allowance, UR STARS recognition program, workplace pension scheme, long service awards, travel to work scheme (season ticket loan), and access to an online shopping platform with discounts from over 3,500 retailers.

Requirements

Experience
Strong expertise in Power BI including advanced DAX, SQL, data modelling, Power Query, and visualisation best practices. Proven experience developing reliable reporting solutions and working collaboratively with data engineering teams. Ability to create clear, user-focused insights that support decision-making. Experience communicating complex data concepts to non-technical audiences, mentoring colleagues, and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of data warehousing, governance, ETL/data pipelines, and agile delivery methods is beneficial. Experience within the charity, care, or education sectors is desirable.

About you
Collaborative and values-driven with a passion for improving data quality and organisational data maturity. Committed to United Response’s mission and vision. Confident in fostering a strong data-driven culture and mentoring others. Able to work effectively in a remote environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or certifications such as Microsoft Power BI certifications, or training in data visualisation, storytelling, or user-centred dashboard design are welcomed but not essential. A degree in a related field such as Data Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or Business Analytics is advantageous. Most importantly, proven experience and a strong track record of delivering impactful BI solutions are highly valued.
