About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the South East London Cancer Alliance (SELCA) team as a Cancer Improvement Manager in a 12-month fixed term or secondment capacity. You will be part of a small team responsible for managing specified SELCA Cancer Pathway Groups, supporting transformational change across South East London. The role involves working with provider organisations and primary care colleagues to design and deliver projects focused on national priorities and local initiatives within provider organisations.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in change management and quality improvement projects, with the ability to work at a senior level in a multi-organisational setting to facilitate organisational and service change. Flexibility, strategic thinking, and maintaining a clear view of overall priorities are essential.
The SELCA vision is to improve cancer services across South East London by enhancing access, clinical outcomes, patient experience, and quality of life, based on national and international standards and evidence.
Main duties include:
- Supporting delivery of the Cancer Pathway Group clinical work programme aligned with NHSE Long Term Plan and National Cancer Programme deliverables
- Partnering with clinical and operational teams to ensure safe, effective, and timely access to diagnostics and treatments
- Managing Cancer Pathway Group meetings and driving improvements in cancer access standards
- Enhancing patient experience and quality of life through excellence in clinical care, research, and education
- Providing quality assurance to reduce variation and address inequalities in access, treatment, outcomes, and experience
- Supporting integrated services, pathways, and new models of cancer care through collaborative work across South East London

Experience
- Proven experience in clinical service management and delivery of quality improvement in NHS organisations
- Experience in project management, including design, development, and delivery of change management
- Experience developing robust monitoring mechanisms and managing project budgets
- Good knowledge of cancer pathways and cancer performance/access standards

Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or other post-graduate qualifications, or equivalent experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development in service improvement and quality improvement within an NHS environment
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including complex report writing and formal presentations
- Confident understanding and application of NHS data to support service improvement
