About the Role
The Hospitality Supervisor will oversee the delivery of all hospitality services including trolley, buffet, breakfast, dinner and beverage services across multiple sites. This role supports high-profile events such as Ministerial and Royal visits, medical seminars and corporate away days, ensuring smooth event delivery and excellent service standards. Responsibilities include conducting pre-event briefings, maintaining a visible front-of-house presence, monitoring staff attendance and performance, and ensuring compliance with uniform and hygiene standards. The post holder will manage hospitality rooms, maintain up-to-date menu knowledge, and provide accurate dietary information using the Piranha system. They will establish and maintain service level agreements with departments outsourcing room management and ensure all departmental systems comply with statutory requirements through policies, audits and controls.

The role also includes managing the cash bar service, liaising with the Team Leader on equipment, stock and cashing up post events. In the Team Leader's absence, the Hospitality Supervisor will manage the weekly rota, place orders via Pelican/Oracle, and identify staffing needs. The post holder will maintain a front-of-house presence throughout the day, monitor staff performance and punctuality, and assist with CQC and PLACE audits as required.

Risk management duties include undertaking workplace risk assessments, health and safety and food hygiene audits, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to all relevant legislation. The Supervisor will attend monthly Health and Safety Champion meetings, safely operate hospitality equipment, and ensure compliance with fire safety and building security procedures.

Communication responsibilities involve participating in departmental meetings, responding to and escalating complaints, reporting maintenance faults and incidents, and cooperating with colleagues to promote a proactive working environment.

HR duties include assisting with recruitment and selection, reviewing staffing levels and skill mix, and providing leadership and support to team members to promote a positive and solution-focused environment.

Financial responsibilities include monitoring and authorising timesheets for payroll, providing internal recharge information and stock takes, and ordering goods through authorised suppliers ensuring best prices.

In the absence of the Hospitality Team Leader, the post holder is authorised to take reasonable action to maintain agreed service standards within Trust policies and guidelines.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in hospitality supervision or a similar role is desirable to effectively manage service delivery, staff, and events. Experience with cash handling, stock management, and use of ordering systems such as Pelican/Oracle is beneficial.

Ability to undertake risk assessments and audits, and to respond promptly to issues and complaints is required. You will demonstrate a positive, solution-focused approach and be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and management.

Qualifications
Completion of mandatory and role-specific training courses is required. Relevant qualifications in hospitality, health and safety, or food hygiene are advantageous but not mandatory. A willingness to undertake ongoing professional development and training is essential.
