About the Role

The Voluntary Services Lead will ensure the provision of a high-quality volunteering service with robust governance and a wide range of volunteer roles that meet the needs of the organisation.

Supported by a skilled team, you will work closely with clinical and service managers to develop meaningful volunteer roles that enhance patient, carer, and staff experience. In partnership with the Head of Patient Experience, you will lead the development and implementation of a volunteer strategy aligned with organisational and national policy requirements.

Your responsibilities will include strategic direction, operational management, and development of voluntary services across the Trust, managing recruitment, placement, and retention of over 400 volunteers, overseeing the Voluntary Services budget, ensuring compliance with national guidance and legal requirements, and representing the Trust externally. You will also organise induction, training, support, and recognition events for volunteers, monitor volunteer activity, and contribute to wider business plans to continuously improve service delivery.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage a diverse team and budget effectively. You will be expected to maintain excellent working relationships across the Trust and with external partners to promote and develop volunteering opportunities that support the Trust’s mission to provide outstanding patient care.

Experience

- Educated to masters level or equivalent significant relevant experience (essential)
