About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS trusts, providing a wide range of hospital and community services across south London and specialist care for patients from further afield. The Trust is home to leading centres including the largest dental school in Europe, a £160 million Cancer Centre, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, and one of the largest critical care units in the UK. In 2021, the Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals joined the Trust, creating a world-renowned heart and lung centre.

The GSTT Armed Forces Welfare Officer will provide holistic welfare support to ensure effective delivery of the Armed Forces Programme outputs. This role leads on welfare aspects of the programme, managing day-to-day delivery and performance, mitigating risks and issues across the welfare spectrum. The post holder will collaborate with clinicians, managers, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure the best possible staff and patient experience.

Key responsibilities include providing welfare management expertise to the Armed Forces community, briefing Trust staff on their responsibilities, communicating progress reports, maintaining meticulous records, organising welfare resources, recognising safeguarding concerns, supporting evaluation and audit activities, and processing referrals with professionalism and sensitivity.

The role requires agile working to support programme and organisational priorities and involves maintaining welfare information management systems, data collection and reporting, interpreting policies, and supporting the development of welfare strategy and service improvement initiatives. The post holder will also engage in research, audits, and continuous personal development to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills.
