About the Role

The Employee Relations Manager will partner with Clinical Group managers to deliver a seamless employee relations service that nurtures and improves the employee experience. This role supports the Employee Relations team by providing expert advice to managers and staff, overseeing case management in line with Just Culture principles, and fostering positive relationships with staff representatives. The role also involves developing HR policies, delivering training, managing employment tribunal claims, and leading a team to ensure high-quality, consistent employee relations support across the Trust.

Key responsibilities include being the focal point for employee relations matters within Clinical Groups, advising on disciplinary, grievance, capability, absence, fixed term contracts, and redundancy cases, managing tribunal claims, supporting team development, and promoting a positive partnership with staffside colleagues. The role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, delivering training and interventions to enhance people management skills, and contributing to service development and continuous improvement within the People Directorate.

Experience
- Proven experience providing advice and support to managers and staff on complex employee relations matters including performance, conduct, and HR policies
- Experience managing employment tribunal claims
- Experience working in a unionised environment
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills
- Experience managing staff
- Experience working in the public sector or NHS is desirable
