About the Role
West London College is seeking three dedicated and motivated Careers & Work Experience (WEX) Coordinators to join the Student Experience department at Hammersmith Campus. You will play a key role in supporting learners to develop their employability, career readiness, independence and preparation for adulthood. Working closely with curriculum teams, employers, learners, parents/carers and external agencies, you will coordinate meaningful work experience opportunities, employer engagement activities, careers education and progression pathways.
You will develop strong relationships with employers and partners to increase opportunities for learners across a range of sectors, including work experience placements, industry placements, internships, apprenticeships, supported internships and employment. A particular focus of the role is to ensure that careers and work experience opportunities are inclusive, accessible and responsive to the needs of all learners, including those with SEND, EHCPs and other additional support needs.
Key responsibilities include sourcing, coordinating and monitoring high-quality placements; matching learners to appropriate opportunities based on their aspirations and needs; completing placement suitability checks and risk assessments; delivering careers education and employability workshops; coordinating employer presentations, careers fairs and sector-specific engagement activities; and supporting learners with additional needs in collaboration with relevant teams.
You will also maintain accurate records, monitor and analyse data to measure impact, contribute to quality improvement planning, and maintain professional knowledge of careers education, employability, work experience, employer engagement and inclusive practice.
The College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all learners and expects staff to share this commitment by complying with relevant policies and completing mandatory training.
Experience
Proven experience in coordinating careers, work experience or employability activities is desirable. Experience working with young people, including those with SEND or additional support needs, is advantageous.
About you
You will be motivated, organised and able to build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including employers, learners, parents/carers and internal teams. You should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be proactive in sourcing opportunities, and committed to promoting inclusive and accessible careers education and work experience. A collaborative approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively are essential.
Qualifications
Relevant qualifications or experience in careers guidance, education, youth work or a related field are desirable but not mandatory. A commitment to ongoing professional development and safeguarding training is required.
