About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Category Manager to join our ambitious team within the Integrated Specialist Medicine (ISM) Clinical Group. You will lead key procurement categories, ensuring the Trust and Shared Service Partner Trusts have access to the right products and services to deliver world-class patient care. You will play a vital role in implementing the Procurement and Supply Chain Business Plan, supporting the Trust’s strategy and the ‘Smart Together’ Shared Service.
This role involves managing a large, complex procurement programme, developing commercial approaches through Category Management and Strategic Sourcing. You will collaborate with senior leadership to foster a positive, high-performing culture built on trust and accountability. The role requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively in a multi-specialty environment, maintaining high standards and driving continuous improvement.
Main duties include:
- Reporting to the Senior Category Manager and contributing as a key team member
- Leading innovative procurement practices and ensuring contract compliance to reduce costs and improve patient care
- Providing expert procurement advice and support to stakeholders
- Developing and managing relationships between stakeholders and procurement
- Engaging with multi-functional teams across Guy’s and St Thomas’ and the Shared Service
- Collaborating with clinicians, service managers, suppliers, professional associations, partner organisations, and system colleagues
- Leading ISM procurement programmes and supporting category and sourcing strategies across complex projects, including clinical specialties such as dental, audiology, interventional radiology, and imaging

Experience
- Extensive experience in procurement management
- Knowledge of procurement regulations and policies
- Proven track record delivering large-scale procurement projects
- Experience working within a public sector procurement environment is desirable

Qualifications
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience in business, procurement or supply chain
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Highly developed knowledge of Contract Law and EU regulations
- MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) or equivalent degree is desirable
- Leadership qualification and Prince 2 qualification or equivalent experience are desirable
