Description
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing and supervising the work of a team of Medical Laboratory Assistants. The duties of the supervisor will be varied and will require the postholder to work accurately when under pressure to meet deadlines. The successful candidate will have effective communication and customer care skills, excellent IT and keyboard skills. The successful candidate will have proven experience of working in a busy and demanding environment with the ability to plan and organise the workload of a team to meet tight deadlines, ensuring the departmental rotas and staffing levels are reviewed regularly. The successful candidate will be expected to deal with issues that occur in reception, to troubleshoot in the first instance and know how and when to escalate issues appropriately and play an active role in ensuring reception staff are up to date with their training, competencies and appraisals. The post holder will be expected to ensure individual requirements are met and that everyone is treated with courtesy and respect. Applicants must have a strong team ethos, with a positive attitude to working in a flexible manner, committed to supporting the clinical services of the Trust and meeting the needs of our patients. The post holder will integrate with the technical & scientific laboratory team and will take direction from the Service Delivery Managers and Departmental Lead in supporting operational processes for ESEL sites. The successful candidate will be based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich but as service demand dictates work at broader ESEL Pathology Partnership locations will be required.
