About the Role
Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts, providing a full range of hospital and community services for people in south London and specialist care for patients from further afield. The Trust includes Guy’s Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospital, employing around 23,900 staff and delivering over 3.1 million patient contacts annually.

We are seeking an outstanding individual to become our next Chair. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead the Trust at a pivotal time for healthcare, research and innovation. The Chair will lead the Board of Directors and Council of Governors, providing strategic leadership and ensuring the Trust continues to deliver its ambitious vision of Better, Faster, Fairer Healthcare for All.

Working closely with the Chief Executive, governors, staff, patients and partners, the Chair will champion high-quality patient care, innovation, research, strong governance and collaborative system leadership. The role requires substantial board-level leadership experience, strong strategic and partnership-building skills, a commitment to equality, inclusion and good governance, and the ability to inspire confidence across a wide range of stakeholders.

Guy’s and St Thomas’ is home to the largest dental school in Europe and a £160 million Cancer Centre. The Trust also includes Evelina London Children’s Hospital, which provides specialist services across south east England, and the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, world-renowned for heart and lung care.

Requirements

Experience
Substantial board-level leadership experience with a proven track record in strategic leadership and partnership building.
