About the Role
The Clinical Research Fellow will be responsible for delivering obesity research studies under the supervision of the principal investigator at Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust. Full training in clinical research skills, including clinical trial conduct, will be provided. The role involves participation in clinical and service activities to ensure high standards of patient care. Key duties include screening and recruitment of eligible patients, consenting and enrolling participants, supporting follow-up and clinical assessments according to study protocols, and liaising with R&D, collaborators, and the GSTT research nursing team. The post holder will also manage clinical trial conduct in line with GCP principles, collect and analyze study data, prepare study documents and ethics applications, and disseminate findings through presentations and publications. Additional responsibilities include teaching and training medical, nursing, and allied health staff as well as medical students. Clinical duties extend to supporting the development and delivery of Tier 3 and Tier 4 obesity services and attending obesity multidisciplinary team meetings. There may be opportunities to gain experience in diabetes or endocrinology depending on the post-holder’s interests and experience. The post holder will also be responsible for training and directing junior staff as part of an agreed training plan.
Experience
