About the Role
Redbridge is an ambitious, diverse, and forward-thinking East London borough committed to strengthening relationships with local people and transforming council services. The Lifeline & Response Service provides a 24-hour, 7-day support service for vulnerable and elderly residents across the Borough of Redbridge. This service responds to emergency calls from Lifeline alarm users and manages out-of-hours calls for Adult Social Care, including contacts from Social Services, District Nurses, Housing, Homeless Services, and other partner agencies.

We are recruiting motivated and committed individuals to join the Lifeline & Response Service in a call handling, visiting, and response role. The post holder will work within the Control Room and in the community, responding to a wide range of incidents and situations. The role requires working night shifts, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, with the ability to work independently and unsupervised at times.

Key responsibilities include handling emergency and non-emergency calls, responding to Lifeline alarm activations and Adult Social Care out-of-hours calls, visiting vulnerable residents to provide practical support and reassurance, assisting clients who may have fallen or require welfare checks, installing Lifeline alarms, keysafes and associated equipment (full training provided), accurately recording information and actions using council systems, and working calmly and professionally using judgement and initiative when responding to incidents.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in call handling, care, emergency response, or social care settings is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

Qualifications
A driving licence is required for response duties using a council vehicle. Successful candidates will be subject to appropriate pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check.
