About the Role
The Communications Officer will provide comprehensive support to the wider communications team and work closely with the Communications Manager to ensure effective two-way communications both internally with staff and externally with stakeholders, service users, and the public. This role has a broad remit including writing content for the Trust's publications, intranet, and public website; organising events; producing patient information; devising promotional campaigns; and monitoring their effectiveness.

Main responsibilities include supporting the Communications Manager and Head of Communications in producing effective communications campaigns, acting as a point of contact within the Communications Team for one of the Trust’s divisions, and producing patient information in plain English and key community languages. The role involves liaising with designers, printers, and photographers to ensure appropriate messaging and imagery.

The Communications Officer will support the corporate communications strategy and assist service lines in devising and implementing their plans. They will champion consistent use of the Trust logo and corporate brand to maintain brand integrity, advising and monitoring brand use as appropriate.

Additional duties include organising events across Trust sites such as official openings or ministerial visits, overseeing publicity, marketing materials, and photography; leading the weekly production of the all-staff bulletin; supporting digital communications by writing and regularly updating content on the Trust’s public website and intranet; managing communications related to local and national health promotion initiatives; and supporting media relations activities including writing press releases and liaising with local and national media.

The role may also involve undertaking other duties commensurate with the grade as requested.

Requirements

Experience
Experience in communications or related roles is desirable to effectively support campaigns, produce patient information, and manage media relations.

You should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to work collaboratively within a team, and have the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the integrity of the Trust’s brand are essential. You should be proactive, organised, and able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders including staff, service users, and external partners.

Qualifications
Relevant qualifications in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field are advantageous but not explicitly stated as mandatory.
