About the Role
We are recruiting a Community Warden to provide a reassuring uniformed patrol presence on the estates, streets, town centres, parks and open spaces of Southwark. You will address concerns of crime, anti-social behaviour and environmental crime through targeted operations and patrols in areas of most need. Community Wardens are a valued and flexible resource supporting organisational efforts to help our communities, especially in response to emergencies or major incidents.

You will work closely with key partners including local police teams, CCTV, housing and estate services, the anti-social behaviour unit, and the street population outreach team. Engagement with members of the business community, estate-based organisations, community representatives and voluntary groups is also a key part of this role.

A comprehensive training package is provided, including Core Skills Award, Personal Safety in the Workplace, Community Safety Accredited Scheme (CSAS), Emergency First Aid at Work, and Anti-Social Behaviour, Enforcement & Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN).

Full uniform is provided. The successful candidate will require security clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and must successfully achieve and maintain Police Vetting at NPPV level 2/CTC (with Counter Terrorism Check). Women are actively encouraged to apply as they are under-represented in this role.

Requirements

Experience
Previous experience in this area is not essential; however, experience in a front line customer-facing role or a similarly challenging environment will be beneficial.

About you
You should be motivated to work in a community-focused role, able to engage positively with diverse groups including residents, businesses and partner agencies. Flexibility to work shifts including evenings and weekends is essential. Commitment to Southwark’s values of tackling inequality and supporting community cohesion is important.

We encourage applications from women and members of Black, Asian and ethnic minority communities to increase representation in this role.

Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required to apply. Successful candidates will complete the comprehensive training package provided as part of the role.
